ShweLearn Terms of Service

Draft — last updated 2026-07-19. This is a starting draft prepared to speed up launch prep, with reasonable defaults filled in by ShweLearn's product team. It is not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have this reviewed by someone qualified in Myanmar contract and consumer-protection law before treating it as final — Section 10 (limitation of liability) and Section 12 (governing law) especially.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using ShweLearn, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the platform.

2. Accounts

Students may self-register. Teacher accounts are created by ShweLearn admins after a vetting step; teachers do not self-register. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Accounts are personal and non-transferable — sharing your login with others to access paid content you haven't paid for is a violation of these terms.

3. Course content and intellectual property

Teachers retain ownership of the courses, videos, and materials they create and upload. By publishing a course on ShweLearn, a teacher grants ShweLearn a license to host, stream, and deliver that content to enrolled students, including applying watermarking and content-protection measures (e.g., signed, time-limited playback URLs) to deter unauthorized redistribution.

Students may access paid content only for personal, non-commercial learning purposes. Downloading, screen-recording for redistribution, sharing login credentials, or otherwise attempting to redistribute course content outside the platform is prohibited and may result in account suspension.

4. Payments and pricing

Course prices are set by teachers (subject to admin approval before a course is published). Payment is currently processed via a manual receipt-upload flow: you make payment through the method(s) ShweLearn displays at checkout, upload proof of payment, and an admin reviews and approves it before your enrollment activates. Approval is not instantaneous — see Section 5 for what happens if there's a delay or issue.

5. Refunds

See our Refund Policy for full details. In short: if your payment receipt is rejected, you haven't been charged by us. Once an enrollment is approved, refund requests are accepted within 7 days, provided you haven't completed more than 20% of the course.

6. Teacher earnings and payouts

Teachers earn a share of enrollment payments for their courses, less ShweLearn's commission (rate disclosed to teachers separately/in-app). Payouts are processed by ShweLearn admins on a periodic basis to the bank details a teacher provides. Teachers are responsible for their own tax obligations on earnings received.

7. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to: upload content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or violates applicable Myanmar law; harass, abuse, or discriminate against other users; attempt to circumvent content-protection or payment mechanisms; use the platform for any unlawful purpose; or impersonate another person or entity.

8. Content moderation and account actions

ShweLearn may review, remove, or restrict content, and may suspend or terminate accounts, that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users or to the platform. Where practical, we'll notify you of the reason.

9. Disclaimers

Courses and materials on ShweLearn are provided by independent teachers. ShweLearn does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or outcomes of any course content. The platform is provided "as is" — we work to keep it reliable but don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ShweLearn's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid to ShweLearn in the 12 months before the claim arose. ShweLearn is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (such as lost profits or lost data), except where such limitation isn't permitted by law. This is standard boilerplate language and should be confirmed against actual Myanmar contract law before being treated as enforceable.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; we'll update the "last updated" date when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Confirm this is the correct/intended jurisdiction with legal review before treating it as final.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms: support@shwelearn.net, or via the Help section in your account.
